The courtyard patio is partly enclosed by two retaining walls. Two walls in succession are
used rather than a sigle imposing high wall. This allows for planting between the walls to
soften their structure, give a feeling of space in the couryard, and allows a view up into the garden.
Semi-circular steps lead to the upper areas; a lawn with a raised water feature, an enclosed
children's play area, a raised deck with views of Aberdeen's skyline, and a secluded sitting
area with built-in seating, and backed by a clipped hedge. A circular theme is used throughout to
make the garden's style work harmoniously. Low maintenance plants, with a strong
emphasise on architectural form, compliment the contemporary style.
